To address the rising number of cases in Chikkamagaluru, the health department has set up separate 50-bed dengue wards for male and female patients and a 10-bed ward for children. The department confirmed that there are sufficient supplies of paracetamol tablets and IV fluids for timely treatment. Suspected dengue cases are treated according to guidelines, with serum samples sent to district public health laboratories for confirmation.

In Haveri, of the two suspected dengue deaths reported, only one was confirmed. A 10-year-old boy from Tadasa village, Byadagi taluk, died on April 19 at KIMS, Hubballi, two days after being admitted. The state-level vector-borne disease death audit committee confirmed the death was due to dengue.

Efforts to manage the dengue outbreak include the construction of a new OPD block at the district hospital in Chikkamagaluru, expected to streamline registrations within 15-20 days.
