Bengaluru: Social Welfare Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary has ordered the officials to expedite the implementation of the free power distribution scheme, which provides 75 units per month, free of cost to the SC/ST community and holders of BPL cards.

Speaking at a review meeting, he said that the government is trying to provide 75 units of power per month, free of cost to SC/ST community and BPL card holders.

He directed the officials to implement a plan other than DBT hassle-free. He also advised finding other alternatives as well.

He said that although the implementation of the scheme is urgently needed, we are also working on ways to help ESCOM beneficiaries submit their bills. The scheme already cost Rs. 800 Crore and in the coming days it will increase.
