Bengaluru: Voter data theft case, main accused arrested

Bengaluru: Police arrested Lokesh, the main suspect in the voter data theft case on Tuesday November 22.

According to sources, Lokesh is close with K. Ravikumar, the Director of the Chilume Educational Cultural and Rural Development Institute.

Sources claim that Lokesh had played a key role in the scam involving the theft of voter data. He is currently being interrogated at the Halasur Gate Police Station.

Meanwhile, Ravikumar was questioned by the police about his involvement in the scam in the meantime. The probe is being overseen by DCP Srinivas Gowda.

Police raided Dharmesh’s house and office in Banashankari and seized contract documents based on statements from Dharmesh and Kempegowda, who are presently in police custody in the case.

As per the reports, certain Returning officers (ROs) had abused their authority, according to a preliminary evaluation of the files and documents that were taken from the accused as well as those that the BBMP had presented.
