
Bengaluru Woman Alleges Rape, Caste Abuse by Friend
A 26-year-old nurse in Bengaluru has accused her friend, Akki Lakshmireddy, of raping her after drugging her and later blackmailing her with explicit videos. Lakshmireddy, a native of Andhra Pradesh, is also alleged to have used casteist slurs and threatened to release the videos online.
Incident Details
According to the FIR, the victim met Lakshmireddy in 2019 when he worked in the credit card department of a bank in RT Nagar. The two developed a friendship and often spoke over the phone.
In November 2019, Lakshmireddy invited her to his sister’s birthday party in RT Nagar. During the gathering, he allegedly drugged her tea with sleeping pills, raped her, and recorded the act.
Blackmail and Repeated Assault
Using the videos as leverage, Lakshmireddy is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting the victim. He allegedly insulted her caste, used abusive language against her family, and made life-threatening remarks.
Police Action
The victim has lodged a complaint with the High Grounds police station. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
The incident highlights the urgent need for stronger measures to ensure women’s safety and accountability for caste-based abuse.
