In a startling incident, a woman rider in Bengaluru received a costly lesson after repeatedly flouting traffic laws. Caught on CCTV, she was observed tripling on a scooter without helmets, leading to a hefty challan of Rs 1.36 lakh. This amount surpasses the value of her Honda Activa itself.
The CCTV footage shared by TV9 Kannada revealed that she had committed traffic violations a staggering 270 times. Her scooter has been confiscated by authorities. Violations ranged from riding without helmets, carrying passengers without helmets, wrong-side riding, mobile phone usage while riding, to jumping traffic signals.
This incident underscores the consequences of reckless riding and highlights the significance of CCTV monitoring adopted by many cities to enforce traffic regulations digitally. Wearing helmets is emphasized as crucial for rider safety.
While the hefty fine serves as a deterrent, it’s a reminder of the dangers posed by disregarding traffic laws, potentially contributing to the alarming number of road fatalities in India.
