BENGALURU: The Delmia Circle flyover in JP Nagar is set to be demolished to pave the way for a new double-decker flyover, part of Phase III of the Namma Metro project. Originally opened in 2018 at a cost of Rs 25 crore, the flyover will be replaced to accommodate an elevated corridor on the Outer Ring Road.

The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) plans to construct a 32-kilometer road-cum-metro flyover, necessitating the removal of the existing Delmia flyover. The new double-decker structure aims to enhance connectivity and integrate with the metro lines, reflecting BMRCL’s ongoing efforts to improve urban transit.

This new proposal follows the earlier plan of constructing a viaduct above the flyover using portal beams, which has now been replaced by a more ambitious double-decker design. The project includes constructing additional double-decker flyovers at key junctions along the route.

The construction of a double-decker flyover on the Yellow Line Metro, connecting Ragigudda and Silk Board, has already begun, and the Jayadeva flyover was demolished in 2020 for this purpose.
