Bengaluru :The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has taken a significant step forward in realizing Bengaluru’s ambitious Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) project by initiating tender proceedings.

The notification for the tender was issued, with a pre-bid meeting scheduled for February 9. BDA officials express confidence in the tender’s success, having revised the project’s cost structure and fixed the costs for land acquisition. Interested parties have until February 29 to submit their bids.

Initially proposed to alleviate traffic congestion in Bengaluru by improving road connectivity, the 74-kilometer PRR project is estimated to cost ₹27,000 crore and will be implemented through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The road will feature eight lanes and will link Tumakuru Road to Hosur Road, requiring the acquisition of over 2,500 acres of land, making it one of the largest road infrastructure endeavors in the country.

Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, DK Shivakumar, recently visited New Delhi to meet with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, seeking financial support for the much-awaited PRR project.

Originally proposed in 2007 with an estimated cost of ₹3,000 crores, the PRR project faced delays due to various challenges. In 2022, the BDA initiated tender processes for the project; however, no bidders participated due to concerns over land acquisition.
