Biennial elections to Rajya Sabha on March 23

Bengaluru: The biennial elections for Rajya Sabha (RS) from the state to elect four members will be held on March 23 as the tenure of four sitting members ends on April 2.

The notification regarding the election has been released. March 12 will be last date to file the nomination papers and the scrutiny will take place on the next day,i.e., March 13.

March 15 will be the last date for withdrawal of nominations.

The election will take place between 9 AM and 4 PM on March 23 and the counting process will begin at 5 PM, the same day.

Secretary to the State Secretariat A S Muthy will be the presiding election officer, Joint Secretary M S Kumaraswamy being the deputy.

Aspirants can file their papers at the designated offices from 11 AM onwards between March 5 and 12. The nomination papers will not be accepted on March 10 and 11 owing to government holidays.

Elected members of the state legislature are eligible to vote in the RS polls.
