Bengaluru: The Karnataka BJP, on Tuesday, announced their candidate for the upcoming Rajya Seat by-polls slated to be held on December 1.

The saffron party will be fielding K Narayan, a businessman who has an RSS background, according to a report by DH.

It can be recalled that the seat fell vacant owing to the untimely death of Ashok Gasti (55), who contracted the COVID-19 infection just two months after being elected to the Rajya Sabha and succumbed to the same on September 17 at a Bengaluru hospital.

He was elected unopposed to the Upper House on June 12 along with Iranna Kadadi of the BJP. He also took oath as a member of the Upper House on July 22 in the Parliament House in New Delhi.

Meanwhile, Narayan owns a printing business and is from the Devanga community, which is a backwards-class. Although he was born in Mangaluru, he is presently settled in Karnataka’s capital city, Bengaluru.

He completed his primary, high school and college education in Mangaluru city, thereafter which he moved to Bengaluru in the year 1971, DH reported.
