Bengaluru: Alleging Chief Minister misled the Assembly by making a factually wrong statement on payment of honorarium to anganwandi workers, the main Opposition (BJP) has moved a privilege motion against him.
The Opposition alleged that Siddaramaiah falsely said the previous BJP government had not increased honorarium for anganwadi workers. Speaker K.B. Koliwad reserved his ruling on the motion.
On Tuesday, the Chief Minister, while making a statement on the issue, said his government was sympathetic to anganwadi workers’ demands and had been increasing their wages every year, while the the BJP government had not hiked their wages even by a single rupee. However, correcting himself, Mr. Siddaramaiah admitted later that the BJP government had increased anganwadi workers’ wage twice.
Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar moved the privilege motion.
