Bengaluru: State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) plans to organize a four-day Karnataka Suraksha Yatra from March 3 to 6 highlighting the government’s failure in maintaining the law and order in the state.
“The objective of the Yatra is to instill confidence among the youth in Coastal Karnataka about their safety in the state. Many youths are worried about their safety and are afraid of coming out of their homes fearing attack by communal and anti-social elements,’’ said BJP state general secretary and Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Shobha Karandlaje told media persons here on Wednesday.
She said Union Minister Ananth Kumar will lead the yatra from Ankola while Union Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda from Kushalnagar at 9 am on March 3. She said Union Minister Ananth Kumar Hegde would also participate in the yatra along with Union Minister Ananth Kumar while Mysuru MP Pratap Simha will accompany Union Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda from Kushalnagar.
“It is a hybrid padayatra. The leaders walk in the villages and towns and travel by vehicles on the road between the towns and villages. The yatra from Kushalnagar and Ankola will converge at Suratkal on March 6,’’she said.
Stating that the yatra will not be in the form an agitation or protest, she said the BJP leaders would not provoke the people to create law and order problem in Coastal Karnataka.
Bahamani Sultanate festival
Coming down heavily on the state government’s plan to organize Bahamani Sultanate festival at Bidar on March 6, the state BJP general secretary demanded the state government to cancel its plan since it would hurt the sentiments of people in the state.
“Bahamani Sultanate had destroyed Vijayanagara kingdom that was known for prosperity. How is it fair on the part of state government to organize functions to remember such dynasty that worked against Vijayanagara empire. The government has planned to organize sahitya sammelanas and quawwali programmes on the occasion. Though government has not come out on this programme, we have got the information from reliable sources,’’ she said.
Rahul Gandhi’s temple visits
Criticising Congress president Rahul Gandhi for visiting temples and mutts to misguide Hindus, Shobha Karandlaje has described Rajul Gandhi’s visits to temples and mutts as a part of vote bank politics.
“Rahul Gandhi came all the way to Karnataka from New Delhi just to visit temples and mutts and also to criticize Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has repeated the speech of the first public meeting at other meetings addressed by him during the three days. He has no vision. He did not mention the state’s problems while addressing the public meetings,’’ she said.
Siddaramaiah did not visit Krishna temple
Blaming Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for hurting the sentiments of devotees with his careless statements, Shobha Karandlaje appealed the chief minister not to hurt the sentiments of people by visiting temples after having non-vegetarian food.
“Sri Sri Vishvesha Theertha Swamiji of Udupi mutt has invited Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to visit Sri Krishna Temple at Udupi but the latter did not visit the temple during the four-and-half years. Now, he is busy in visiting temples and mutts with an eye on the forthcoming Assembly elections,’’ she said.
PM to visit Mysuru
Shobha Karandlaje has said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would visit Mysuru on February 19 to inaugurate developmental works funded by the Central Government. During the visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate electrified Bengaluru-Mysuru railway double track and flag off new train between Mysuru and Rajasthan. The prime minister would also inaugurate new blocks at ESI Hospital on KRS Road and launch eight-lane Bengaluru and Mysuru Highway Road.
