Bengaluru: The defeat of the BJP even after emerging as the single largest party with 104 seats in the Karnataka Assembly has been the question of larger debate and discussion among the party circles. After thorough introspection, the BJP leaders opined that lack of teamwork was the main reason behind the BJP’s inability to reach the magic number of 113 in the state Assembly elections held on May 12.

At the same meeting, sources say that the saffron party leaders have decided to strengthen the party roots in Hassan, Mandya, Ramanagara, Tumakuru and Bengaluru Rural where Janata Dal (S) has strong presence.

In this Assembly election, BJP has entered the stronghold of Devegowda family- Hassan with the victory of Pritham Gowda. In Sakleshpur, BJP candidate lost the seat by a small margin. So, there is a great opportunity to sneak inside the Vokkaliga-dominated districts, political analysts said.

Meanwhile, sources close to the party said that the BJP leaders were also busy designing plans to attract the Congressmen who were frustrated with Congress High Command for forming an alliance with the JDS just to keep the BJP out of power in what it calls as “opportunistic politics.”
