Bengaluru:Here is a good news for the women passengers who travel in more than 6,600 BMTC buses every day. Keeping in mind the safety of the passengers, the BMTC is all set to launch ‘Pink Sarathi vehicles’.

These vehicles will be monitored at the BMTC control room and will have only women staff in them.

This Pink Sarathi project has been implemented under the Nirbhaya scheme of the union government. In the first phase, 25 such vehicles will be operated. These vehicles will have the GPS and public annoucement system in place.

The new vehicles will be flagged off in an event to be held at the Vidhana Soudha on Thursday morning. CM HD Kumaraswamy will launch the scheme. BMTC chairman NA Haris will preside over the event.

These vehicles will be operated across the city including night time to ensure that the women passengers are safe.
