A well-known hotel in Bengaluru, Karnataka, faced a bomb threat on Monday, prompting swift action from police officials who evacuated all customers as a precautionary measure. The area surrounding the hotel has been cordoned off following the threat.
Anonymous Threat and Ransom Demand
An anonymous letter received by the Jalahalli police station claimed the presence of a bomb near Kadamba Hotel, situated close to the HMT ground. The letter warned of dire consequences if a ransom of 2.5 million dollars (over Rs 20 crore) was not paid to prevent the purported explosion. The threat also mentioned potential bombings at public events, adding to the gravity of the situation.
Previous Blast Incident and NIA Intervention
The recent threat follows a low-intensity blast at the Brookfield outlet of Rameshwaram Cafe on March 1, leading to injuries among customers and staff. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the case on March 3 and subsequently arrested key accused Mussavir Hussain Shazib and co-conspirator Abdul Matheen Taahaa earlier this month. The NIA’s successful pursuit and apprehension of the accused near Kolkata were facilitated by coordinated efforts among various law enforcement agencies.
