The Anti-Narcotics Wing of Bengaluru’s Central Crime Branch (CCB) has detained nine foreign nationals for overstaying their visas and their suspected involvement in drug trafficking activities. The individuals—originating from Nigeria, Sudan, Congo, and Ghana—had entered India on various visas but remained illegally in Bengaluru after their documents expired.

According to authorities, none of the nine had valid passports or visas at the time of their detention. The CCB Narcotics Control Squad, in collaboration with postal authorities, intercepted a drug consignment valued at approximately ₹6 lakh, which was allegedly imported from overseas.

The seized narcotics included:

  • 10 grams of cocaine
  • 10 grams of MDMA crystals
  • 30 grams of ecstasy pills
  • 70 grams of hydro ganja

One Nigerian national has already been deported, and deportation proceedings are underway for the remaining eight individuals. A criminal case has been registered at Kempegowda Nagar police station, with further investigations ongoing to identify those responsible for booking the parcels.

To strengthen the crackdown on illegal drug activity, the Bengaluru City Police Unit convened a district-level strategy meeting involving key departments such as the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), and BBMP. The goal is to enhance coordination, streamline data sharing, and expedite action against drug peddlers and visa violators as part of the state’s vision for a drug-free Karnataka.
