Bengaluru police have apprehended a 17-year-old boy for allegedly breaking into a home in Kalahasti Nagar, Bagalagunte, and stealing gold ornaments worth Rs 2 lakh. The crime occurred on December 20 when the suspect, walking through the neighborhood, noticed a locked house that seemed unusually quiet. Taking advantage of the situation, he forced open the front door, entered the house, and stole gold jewelry and cash.
The theft was discovered when a neighbor noticed the broken lock hours later and informed the homeowner, who then filed a police complaint. Investigators reviewed nearby CCTV footage, which helped track the suspect to the Shettihalli railway gate on January 6. During interrogation, the minor confessed to the theft and led the police to recover the stolen gold from a jeweller in Laggere, North Bengaluru.
The teenager was presented before a juvenile court and referred to the Juvenile Justice Board for further legal proceedings.
