Bengaluru : The Centre has declared five districts in the state as Open Defecation Free (ODF) out of 101 districts across the country, announced Minister of drinking water and sanitation, Ramesh Jigajinagi.
Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Mangaluru, Udupi and Kodagu find place in the list of 101 districts declared ODF in India by Centre.
Union Minister Jigajinagi said nearly 11 crore population is deprived of toilets in the country and 3.5 crore toilets are being provided to ensure the success of Prime Minister’s dream project to make the entire nation ODF under the Swachh Bharath Abhiyan (SBA).
Work is in progress in the states of West Bengal, Telangana and the government hopes to achieve the set target to declare entire nation ODF by October 2,2019, Minister Jigajinagi clarified.
