Bengaluru: In a big relief to the residents of the Chikamagalur and Dakshina Kannada districts and the devotees visiting Dharmastala temple, the Chikkamagaluru district administration has now opened the Charmadi ghats for light vehicle movement, with conditions.

The road will be open only from 6 am and 6 pm and the order applies till September 30, the last date of the monsoon. The next move is not yet decided.
Earlier a ban was imposed till September 14, but now the light vehicles will be allowed, said sources.
According to the authorities, KSRTC buses and other heavy vehicles will not be allowed.
It can be recalled that landslides were reported from over 40 places along Charmadi ghat forcing the Chikkamagaluru district administration to place a ban order on the vehicle movement.
