Bengaluru: Newly appointed tourism minister CT Ravi is now in the eyes of a storm following his statement that no separate flag is required for Karnataka state.
Ravi had said that the national flag was enough to represent the cultural diversity of all the states and hence Karnataka needed no separate flag. His statement has irked Kannada activists, who have demanded him to step down from the minister’s post.
All started with CT Ravi making a statement in the capacity of Kannada and Culture minister that he has no plans to continue with the Siddaramaiah led government’s proposal of a separate flag for the state.
It can be recalled that when Siddaramaiah was the CM, the department had finalized a separate flag for the state. However, Ravi’s statement led to a massive controversy with activists urging him not to be the stooge of Hindi leaders. Many used microblogging site Twitter to express their anguish.
They urged Ravi to uphold Kannada instead of pleasing his bosses from Gujarat.
