Chitradurga: A few members in the Zilla Panchayat of Chitradurga District have resorted to resort politics by camping in a resort in Goa demanding the Zilla Panchayat President Soubhagya Basavarajan to step out of power.
Despite the drought in the District 18 members of the elected Congress party have camped in a resort in Goa. In the 37 members Zilla Panchayat, 23 members of the Congress party were elected and Soubhagya Basavarajan was chosen as Panchayat President for 30 months.
However, the ruling party members have now declared war against the President for not leaving her post even after completion of her term in office as per the agreement.
Owing to the same case 6 general assemblies were cancelled in the Zilla Panchayat. The Congress had ousted Soubhagya Basavarajan from the party for not stepping down from her post. According to the agreement, Shashikala and Vishalakshi Nataraj are the candidates in line for the post of the Zilla Panchayat President and a fight is continuing between the two for the post.
According to the sources 8 members of another party are expected to reach the resort in Goa today to discuss the president’s post.
