Cong faces revolt from its own MLAs over postponed cabinet expansion

Bengaluru: Right from the time of promise of “unconditional support” by the Congress to Janata Dal (S) in the coalition government formation, dissent has been constantly there following demand for minister portfolios within either party members. Though this is common in a coalition, internal disputes within the party is emerging as a new challenge in the state government.

A similar scenario is seen among the MLAs of the Congress party. The core reason for this distress and eruption of problems within the party is the postponement of the cabinet expansion. The unhappiness on this development is now appearing on social media platform, especially Twitter.

The first to take to Twitter was MLA B C Patil from the Hirekerur Constituency of Haveri.

Patil tweeted saying, “The act of postponement of cabinet expansion is an insult to the elected legislators. It is like killing democracy and upholding dictatorial regime.”

He has tagged AICC President Rahul Gandhi, KPCC President Dinesh Gundu Rao and Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwar in his tweet.

This move by B C Patil can also be observed with a perspective that, he is the only Congress candidate from the Sadhu Lingayat community Haveri, Gadag and Dharwad constituencies. The community has its roots in 10 districts.

The next one to take to Twitter was Congress party MLA N Cheluvarayaswamy from the Nelamangala Constituency.

He has tweeted saying, “The Congress party should not have joined the coalition with the Janata Dal (S) for the Mandya Lok Sabha by-poll. The party should go for election as a single party.”

These developments in the state politics, especially within the ruling coalition government is clearly depicting a sense of instability. A by-election in the Ramanagar Constituency has become necessary as CM HDK resigned from this constituency and retained Channapatna.
