Bengaluru: Congress party workers and leaders staged a flash protest in the city on Wednesday, condemning Income Tax Department raids on Congress leaders’ houses. They alleged the raids were politically motivated, and their only target was Bengaluru Rural Congress candidate DK Suresh.
MP DK Suresh and DCM DK Shivakumar stated just a few days ago that their supporters are being targeted by the Income Tax Department just to harass them and derail their campaigns.
On Wednesday, the IT department sleuths conducted a raid on the house of Konanakunte Block Congress president Shridhar and former corporator Gangadhar, who are close confidants of MP DK Suresh.
Condemning the raids, the party workers took to the street. They questioned the timings of the raid and charged that these raids were politically motivated and executed to harass and cripple the DK Suresh’s campaign, tie him not to take part in the election campaign, and mar his chances of winning the election.
