Four people, including a couple and their two-year-old daughter, lost their lives in two separate accidents involving BMTC buses in Bengaluru and Hoskote between Thursday night and Friday evening.
In the first and more tragic incident, daily-wage workers Arun Kumar (32), his wife Anusha (28), and their two-year-old daughter Arna were killed after a BMTC bus collided with their motorcycle on the Devanahalli-Sulibele Main Road near Hoskote on Friday evening.
The family, residents of Tallahalli in Devanahalli, were returning home from work in Sulibele when the accident occurred around 6 pm. Their elder daughter, five-year-old Anushika, who was also on the motorcycle, sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at a hospital. Police said her condition is stable.
Police examine bus camera footage
According to police, Arun Kumar was riding the motorcycle while his wife and elder daughter were seated behind him. Their younger daughter Arna was seated on the petrol tank when the collision took place.
Investigators are examining footage from the dashboard camera installed in the BMTC bus to determine whether the vehicle had entered the wrong lane before the crash. The bus driver reportedly fled the scene after the accident, abandoning the vehicle.
The incident triggered heavy traffic congestion in the area, with vehicular movement affected for nearly an hour.

The victim, identified as Raju K, was a resident of Ullala and originally hailed from Mandya district. Police said the bus was travelling from Kengeri when the accident occurred.
