A 62-year-old man who ran a rehabilitation centre was allegedly murdered by a suspected inmate at the facility in Bengaluru on Thursday morning, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Shivalingaiah, who had been operating the rehabilitation centre in BCC Layout for several years. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Chandra Layout Police Station and has sent shockwaves through the local community.

According to preliminary investigations, the accused is believed to be a person undergoing treatment for substance addiction at the centre. Police said the suspect allegedly attacked Shivalingaiah with a deadly weapon before fleeing the premises.

Police launch manhunt for accused
