Bengaluru: The 66th Civil court dismissed the bail plea of MLA Harris’ son Mohammed Nalapad and six of his accomplices in the assault case on February 27.
Justice Parameshwar Prasanna delivered the judgment, thereby dousing Nalapad’s aspiration of getting bail.
Police not recording Vidwath’s statement and likley attempt by accused Nalapad to influence witnesses, destroy evidence are cited to be the reasons behind the denial of bail.
Nalapad had brutally assaulted 24-year-old youth Vidwath, son of a businessman from Vasanthanagar, at Farzi Cafe in UB City around 10 p.m. on Saturday, February 17 and had then gone absconding. Subsequently he surrendered to police on February 19.
A local court had ordered 14 days of imprisonment till March 7 to Nalapad and his associates, here on February 21.
Currently Nalapad is languishing in Parappana Agrahara prison and several attempts by him to get bail have failed. Irritated over not getting bail, Nalapad is understood to have even told his father MLA Harris to do everything possible to get him released during a telephone conversation on March 1.
The victim, Vidwath, is currently recovering at Mallya Hospital in the city.
