Bengaluru: Fearing that the event may become a COVID 19 hotspot, the horticulture department has cancelled the Independence Day Lalbhag flower show this year.
This is for the first time, this much loved annual flower show has been cancelled in the history of the state.
Interestingly this flower started in the pre-independence era. Every year it was organised twice in a year (January and August). At the time of II world war, it was cancelled once.
Horticulture minister KC Narayana Gowda confirmed that there is no flower show this year. He attributed COVID 19 as the reason.
According to the sources in the horticulture department, at least two months preparation is essential to organise this event. However this year due to COVID 19, no meeting has been held and there is no proposal.
