Bengaluru: A cybercriminal duped a retired Lieutenant General to the tune of Rs 1.08 lakhs. The city cyber police have registered an FIR in this regard and are currently investigating the matter.
According to the cyber police, D Raghunath, a resident of Jayanagar and a retired Lieutenant General of the army, alleged in his complaint, that recently, a person called him over the cellphone stating that his ATM was infected with a virus transmitted via an ATM. “He withdrew more than Rs 1.08 lakh in the name of rectifying the mistake,” he alleged.
“Raghunath is working with various institutions of national importance in various research works. The incident is being taken seriously. We are in search of the fraudster,” informed the police.
