The Karnataka High Court on Friday granted bail to actors Darshan Thoogudeepa Srinivas and Pavithra Gowda, the prime accused in the Renukaswamy murder case. Justice S. Vishwajith Shetty ruled in favor of their petitions, also extending bail to other accused individuals, including Nagaraju, Anu Kumar, Lakshman, Jagadeesh alias Jagga, and R. Pradoosh Rao.
Renukaswamy, employed at a medical shop in Chitradurga, was found dead on June 8, 2024. Investigations revealed he was allegedly kidnapped and murdered in a shed within the Pattanagere area under RR Nagar police limits, Bengaluru. The motive for the crime was reportedly linked to Renukaswamy sending inappropriate messages to Pavithra Gowda.
Darshan, who was arrested on June 11, had been detained at Parappana Agrahara Jail in Bengaluru. However, following a controversy sparked by viral images of him in a relaxed setting with other inmates, he was transferred to Ballari Central Jail. He is currently hospitalised for back pain.
The case has drawn widespread attention, with discussions about judicial proceedings and celebrity influence.
