Davanagere: PSI, constable trapped for demanding bribe

Davanagere: Davanagere Rural Police Station PSI and a constable were caught by the Lokayukta on Saturday April 22 for accepting Rs. 50,000 as bribe through phonepe to help them in the missing case of a woman.

PSI Shivanagouda and police man Lingaraja Naik were caught by Lokayukta officials. K. Rangaswamy of Talekatte Village in Holalkere Taluk of Chitradurga District was paid Rs 50,000 to find the missing woman and send her back. They demanded bribe money. Rangaswamy had lodged a case at Davanagere Lokayukta Police Station in this regard.

Instead of accepting the bribe money, the accused gave them their mobile number by asking them to make phone payments and in the morning, both of them paid Rs. 50,000 through PhonePe. He received bribe money. The Lokayukta police have detained both of them in connection with the case and are investigating.
