Bengaluru:In a big embarrassment to the BJP, a few members of the Chikkamagalur City Municipal Council, who are staunch supporters of BJP state general secretary CT Ravi have urged the party leadership not to give ticket to incumbent MP Shobha Karandlaje from Udupi- Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency. A few senior activists of the Jana Sangha too have echoed this opinion.
Speaking to reporters in Chikkamagaluru city, council president Shilpa Rajashekar, vice president Sudheer, members Afsar, Muttaiah, Pushparaj, Ravi, Devaraja Shetty, and others informed that Shobha remain unavailable for their problems in last five years. “Every time we are asked to meet her in Bengaluru city. She didn’t respond to our problems or issues. She was totally away from the constituency. So we want a candidate who will be with the voters always,” they said.
“This is our opinion. Finally we will leave everything to the state leadership,” they said.
Meanwhile, Nagesh Angirasa, a social activist and senior member of the erstwhile Jana Sangha said if the BJP fields Shobha, activists will press NOTA. “We want Jayaprakash Hegde,” he said.
