Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar today dismissed allegations of former Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy that the Congress was distributing gift cards to voters and said that Congress was distributing ‘manifesto card’.
Speaking to reporters at his Sadashivanagar residence, he said, “Kumaraswamy doesn’t have any shame, he is no Sathya Harischandra. Can I show what BJP is distributing to the voters of Bengaluru Rural? Muniratna and Kumaraswamy are distributing gold cards. We are only distributing our manifesto card.”
Asked if Rs 10,000 coupon was being distributed to voters, he said, “At least they are fearing us. He should have contested elections in Bengaluru Rural. He has run away to Mandya like a coward while making an innocent person contest here.”
Asked about an MP misbehaving with a woman, he said, “Kumaraswamy has insulted women saying they have lost their way due to guarantee schemes. You ask Devegowda, Kumaraswamy, Dr Manjunath and Revanna, they will answer.” Asked about Kumaraswamy questioning KPCC President’s abilities, he said, “Our capabilities are evident. People have given us 136 seats. They have given 18 seats to the JDS for a reason.”
IT Raids on Congress workers
Replying to a query on IT raids on Congress workers, he said, “The IT department is deliberately targeting Congress party workers. IT department officials are behaving like BJP agents. An IT official asked a Congress Block leader to join BJP. They manhandled the wife and children of D K Suresh’s driver. I will submit a detailed affidavit from the affected after the elections. I will meet the DG to give a complaint.”
All segments will support Congress
“The people of Karnataka will vote wisely. Women especially will show their support for Congress. Most of our schemes are benefitting women. Women, youth, farmers have all decided to side with the Congress this time,” he said.
“We have reports that Congress will win more than 20 seats in Karnataka. In the first phase, Congress will win 10 of the 14 seats that went to polls today. This is not astrological predictions; this is based on political acumen and data,” he added.
Asked about BJP’s allegations that Congress was desperate, he said, “It is clear who is desperate. The Prime minister is so desperate that he is talking about mangalasutra. His speeches are unbecoming of his position. Instead of being the custodian of secularism and social equality, the Prime minister is talking about minorities.”
“Keep your doors and windows open, refreshing rays of change will come into your homes. BJP did not do much in the 10 years. Congress has changed lives of the people in just one year,” he urged.
