Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced two key initiatives on Sunday — the rollout of a new state-of-the-art CityCat cleaning vehicle for Bengaluru and an update on the Yettinahole water project, aimed at delivering drinking water to Kolar by 2027.
Taking to social media platform X, Shivakumar introduced the CityCat vehicle as a major step in urban sanitation. “Cleaner Bengaluru, Smarter Bengaluru. This is more than a machine – it’s a symbol of our commitment to a cleaner, greener future,” he wrote.
The advanced street-cleaning vehicle will soon hit the roads, marking a fresh push towards better waste management and public hygiene in the city.
On Saturday, Shivakumar addressed media about progress on the Yettinahole project, a crucial water supply initiative. He revealed that discussions with the forest department have begun, covering issues like land acquisition and finances for the proposed balanced reservoir in Bairagonda and Lakkenahalli.
“Our resolve is clear: we will bring Yettinahole water to Kolar by 2027,” he assured. He also emphasized that ministerial inputs and technical reviews would shape final project plans, which will be presented in the next cabinet meeting.
He concluded by saying the project holds top priority, even above others: “The CM has directed me to complete it on priority.”
