A locality close to the Bengaluru Police Commissioner’s headquarters witnessed alarming and bizarre moments on Thursday afternoon when an intoxicated individual scaled a towering tree to gather jackfruits. Footage captured the man precariously swinging from a branch, desperately clinging on, before plunging nearly 50 feet to the earth below.
Authorities reported that a watchman stationed at Embassy Apartments along Ali Asker Road noticed the man attempting to collect the fruit. The guard called out loudly to warn him. Frightened by the sudden shouting, the man tried to climb even higher to flee but lost his balance in the process. This left him dangling helplessly from a branch high above the ground.
Immediately after, the security guard contacted the local police control room. Officers responded without delay and arrived swiftly at the scene. They quickly arranged a tent cloth underneath in a bid to soften the impact if he fell. Despite their efforts to cushion him, the man still crashed down forcefully and sustained grave injuries.
An official present at the site stated that the man had suffered a serious fracture in his hip due to the fall. He was quickly transported by ambulance to Bowring Hospital for urgent medical care and treatment.
The incident drew a crowd of onlookers, with many recording videos that later spread widely on social media, sparking conversations about public safety and the risks of reckless behaviour
