Bengaluru: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Karnataka Sanjeev Kumar has denied the allegations that the BBMP has deleted voters’ names in bulk in many places in the city. “It is a false complaint. But in the cases related to the deletion of a few names, we have asked the BBMP to investigate,” said Sanjeev Kumar.

It can be recalled that the BJP state unit had approached the election commission alleging that over 2 lakh names were deleted from the voters’ list across the city.

“On the deletion of individual names, we are conducting an investigation,” Kumar said.

He also informed that a few political parties were distributing old slips which resulted in confusion. “We had shared the new voters’ list. Instead, in many places, the old list was used to distribute the slips. It added to the confusion,” he said.

Kumar also said that the election commission is gearing up for the third phase of the election in the remaining 14 Lok Sabha constituencies across the state, which will be held on Tuesday.
