Bengaluru: A dance by teachers of a Government primary and high school in Hanumanthanagar, Bengaluru (South) has gone viral.
In the video, a few teachers, all dressed in sarees of various shades of gree are seen dancing to tunes of the Sandalwood blockbuster song “Allaadsu”, from the film “Chowka”.
With the video making way for criticism from various quarters, none other than Karnataka Education Minister S Suresh Kumar himself has a piece of advice for the teachers.
In a video message on his Facebook page, the Minister said that this is unbecoming of teachers to behave in such a manner.
While revealing that a notice has been served to the school’s head teacher, the Minister said that episodes like this are a black mark on the noble profession.
“Our speech and action must bring us respect. Teachers are the ones who shape the future of children. If this is the attitude of the teachers, how will they earn respect from their students?” he said adding that the recent row of a teacher assaulting a little child for failing to pronounce a particular Kannada word has already dented the image of teachers.
“The teacher who assaulted the child had come to me. During the conversation, I realised that he did not even have an iota of guilt. He had come to me only to request me to roll back his suspension order,” he said adding that these episodes demean the teachers.
“It is the responsibility of the teachers to behave in a dignified manner because the students are watching you,” he said.
