Bengaluru: Electronics City Industrial Township Authority (ELCITA), in collaboration with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), inaugurated a foot over bridge connecting the East and West phases of Electronics City on the Hosur Road near the toll plaza on May 10, to avoid accidents involving pedestrians.
“This is a useful addition to Electronics City’s infrastructure. Pedestrians were finding it difficult to cross the street, especially during the peak hours. Those who crossed the road had to dodge the speeding vehicles. This bridge will connect the East and West phases of Electronics City, ensuring road safety. This will also help reduce pollution levels as vehicles need not stop at this EC-Hosur road junction”, said Hari Prasad Hegde, Chairman, ELCITA.
This section between the East and West phases of Electronics City sees nearly 30,000 people crossing the street. Pedestrians usually get hit by speeding vehicles on this stretch as they pick up speed just after the toll.
Speaking about the initiative, ELCITA CEO, N S Rama said, “ELCITA wants to make Electronics City a pedestrian-friendly locality. This bridge is a valuable contribution towards road safety, which will help not only the pedestrians but also the civic authorities, like the traffic police, to regulate traffic. We thank the NHAI and BETPL for their approval to construct the FoB.”
