Emmaculate Anyango Achol, the world’s second-fastest 10K woman runner, is set to headline the 16th edition of the TCS World 10K Bengaluru, slated for April 28. Here are the key highlights of the event:

Elite Women’s Lineup:

Anyango, known for her remarkable 10K performance in Valencia with a timing of 28:57, will lead the elite women’s lineup. She narrowly missed the podium at the World Cross Country Championships and expresses excitement about participating in Bengaluru for the first time.

Five other Kenyan runners, including Lilian Rengeruk Kasait, Faith Chepkoech, Loice Chemnung, Cintia Chepngeno, and Grace Nawowuna, will also compete, boasting timings faster than the event’s course record.

Additional Participants:

Joining the Kenyan contingent are two Ethiopian runners, Aberash Minsewo and Lemlem Hailu, adding further competitiveness to the women’s race.

Elite Men’s Lineup:

Peter Mwaniki Aila from Kenya leads the elite men’s lineup with an impressive timing of 26:59, achieved in Valencia earlier this year. He is joined by country-mate Bravin Kipkogei Kiptoo, as well as Bravin Kiprop, Hillary Chepkwony, and Patrick Mosin, among others.

Expected Competition:

The competition promises to be intense, with young runners from Tanzania and Ethiopia also expected to challenge the Kenyan athletes.

Prize Money:

Winners in both the men’s and women’s categories will receive USD 26,000 each, with an additional USD 8,000 bonus for setting a new course record.
