Fed up with Bengaluru’s infamous traffic jams, entrepreneur Prashant Pitti, co-founder of EaseMyTrip, has pledged ₹1 crore to tackle the city’s congestion using technology and data-driven insights.
In a viral post on X, Pitti shared how he was trapped for over two hours covering just 11 km on the Outer Ring Road, spending 100 minutes at a single choke point with no traffic light or police regulation. Determined to move beyond complaints and memes, he vowed to fund a project that could offer real solutions.
His initiative will leverage Google’s “Road Management Insight” tool—launched in April 2025—which provides granular, city-level traffic patterns via BigQuery. Pitti plans to combine this with satellite imagery to pinpoint the worst congestion spots and understand when and why they turn into bottlenecks.
He committed to financing one or two senior machine learning engineers, covering Google Maps API costs, GPU resources, and other tech infrastructure required to run the project. However, he stressed that collaboration with civic bodies like Bengaluru Traffic Police and BBMP is crucial. For the project to succeed, he urged authorities to share raw data feeds and designate teams to act on the insights.
Many applauded Pitti’s proactive approach, while tech professionals offered to volunteer, inspired by his commitment to make India’s tech capital more liveable.
