Bs Yediyurappa

Bengaluru: In a significant development, the Karnataka High Court has provided interim relief to former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, who was facing the threat of arrest in connection with a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The court has ordered that coercive proceedings of arrest and detention against Yediyurappa be stayed until the next hearing of the case.

Yediyurappa, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has been directed by the court to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for an inquiry on June 17. This directive comes amidst allegations stemming from an incident earlier this year.

The court’s decision to temporarily halt any coercive action pending further legal proceedings marks a crucial development in the ongoing legal saga.

Yediyurappa is facing charges that he allegedly sexually exploited a minor when she met him with her mother at the former’s house. The case was later handed over to CID.  Recently a non-bailable warrant was issued against Yediyurappa after he had gone incommunicado.

The applications were filed in connection with the POSCO case one was to scrap the FIR and another one was seeking anticipatory bail.
