Mysuru: The Krishnaraja Constituency Janata Dal (S) youth wing workers flagged off the ‘Hasiru Loka Sasi Neduva Abhiyana’, a campaign for greenery, on the occasion of the 87th birthday celebration of former Prime Minister H D Devegowda by planting tree saplings in Vivekananda Nagar park.
Speaking on the occasion, JDS youth leader Ajay Shastri said that H D Devegowda had made every Kannadiga proud with his achievement as a chief minister and later prime minister. Devegowda took the lead whenever there were problems in the state regarding water and language, said Shastri.
The youth leader said that Devegowda has given importance to planting more trees and protecting them and educating the youth.
“In recent years, when the air pollution and high temperature was taking its toll on people’s health, it was important to plant more trees. People should come forward to grow plants on their terraces so that they could give living spaces to small birds. The children should be educated about the environment”, said Shastri.
JDS Krishnaraja Constituency Youth Wing President B E Girish Gowda, JDS Town President Prakash Priyadarshan, Secretary Pradeep Gowda and other JDS party workers were present at the venue.
