Bengaluru: A protest was staged by Forum for Peoples Collective Efforts (FPCE) Karnataka division, in collaboration with Namma Bengaluru Foundation (NBF) and various other housing welfare associations and organisations, here on Saturday, May 18, demanding implementation of the Karnataka Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) Act, appropriately on ground.
Members from all around the state had participated in the protest at the Town Hall.
They criticised against the Karnataka RERA not working according to the rules and regulations mentioned in the relevant Act and allowing the builders and real estate developers to function as they wish.
Protestors said, “Builders and real estate developers are not obeying the rules and regulations mentioned in the state RERA Act and no action as such has been taken against them till date. The Act includes stringent actions against such violaters. The Act mentions that such offenders could be heavily penalised followed by cancellation of their company registration, seizing of their assets and a few more to mention.”
“It is sad to know that the state RERA has not organised even one awareness programme on RERA from the past two years”, they added.
They have opined that a lot of state RERA rules do not go hand-in-hand with the Central RERA.
“Several of the projects are not having Occupational Certificate (OC) and Completion Certificate (CC)”, they said.
