Three individuals, including a father and his son, lost their lives in a tragic crash on the Bengaluru-Mysuru access-controlled expressway on Sunday, according to police. A fourth passenger is critically injured and undergoing treatment at Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru.

The group was returning to Bengaluru after attending a gathering in Madavinakodi, located in Mandya’s KR Pet taluk. As their Swift DZire approached the Jayapura bridge in Ramanagar taluk, the driver reportedly failed to control the vehicle while navigating a curve. The car slammed into a retaining wall and flipped repeatedly due to the force of impact, killing three occupants instantly and severely damaging the vehicle.

Authorities identified the deceased as Thammanna Gowda, aged 54, his 27-year-old son Muthuraju Gowda, and Shashank, the 26-year-old driver. Their relative, Sanju—also known as Sachin—aged 25, sustained grave injuries. He has been admitted in critical condition.

The family hailed from Chikkanayakanahalli in KR Nagar, while Sanju is a resident of KR Pet. Investigators said that Muthuraju and Sanju, who were employed in Bengaluru, had hired the car for their travel back to the city.

Police are currently examining CCTV footage from the expressway and recording witness statements to reconstruct the sequence of events. The deceased were handed over to their
