Bengaluru’s vibrant food scene has welcomed a new entrant with the opening of FOMO, an Asian restaurant in Indiranagar that promises flavours beyond familiar favourites.
Founded by entrepreneur Sanket Reddy and chef Prashanth Puttaswamy, the restaurant redefines FOMO as “Flavours Of Modern Orient”.
Inspired by Thailand and Vietnam
Before launching the restaurant, the duo reportedly travelled for nearly 20 days across Northeast Thailand and Vietnam to explore local kitchens, hidden eateries and regional dishes.
They visited cities and regions such as Udon Thani, Chiang Mai, Isan, Hanoi and Huê, learning recipes directly from local families and street-food specialists.
The founders say the aim was to bring lesser-known Asian dishes to Bengaluru rather than only common global staples.
From friendship to food venture
Reddy and Chef Prashanth, long-time friends from the same residential community on Kanakapura Road, decided to build the venture together after years of shared passion for food.
Chef Prashanth has over two decades of experience and has worked with noted hospitality brands including Olive and Lupa.
Stylish Indiranagar space
Located on 100 Feet Road, the 42-seater restaurant has been designed with subtle Southeast Asian influences.
The interiors feature dark ceilings, textured walls, custom lighting and imported décor sourced from Thailand and Vietnam.
Guests can also view the kitchen through horizontal windows, adding a sense of openness to the dining experience.
Unique mascot and concept
The restaurant’s visual symbol is a praying mantis wearing a Vietnamese conical hat, reflecting precision, calmness and focus.
The founders say the mascot mirrors the chef’s disciplined cooking style and attention to detail.
