Former CMs HD Kumaraswamy and Bommai Submit Resignation from MLA Posts

Bengaluru: Former Chief Ministers HD Kumaraswamy and Basavaraj Bommai, who were elected as MPs from the Mandya and Haveri-Gadag Lok Sabha constituencies respectively in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election, have resigned from their positions as members of the Legislative Assembly on Saturday.

Both leaders submitted their resignations to Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker UT Khader at his office. Bommai was elected as an MLA from Shiggaon and Kumaraswamy was the MLA from Channapatna. Former CM and Mandya MP HD Kumaraswamy recently assumed charge as Minister for Steel and Heavy Industry in the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As both leaders have submitted their resignations from the Assembly seats, a by-election will be conducted by the Election Commission of India.
