Former DIG Roopa Moudgil conferred with President’s medal

Bengaluru: Former Deputy Inspector General, D Roopa Moudgil received the President’s Medal for meritorious services at Raj Bhawan in Bengaluru, on Saturday.

Roopa whose name was recommended for the award for meritorious services last year was confered the medal by state Governor Vajubhai Vala.

The IPS officer had recently in an expose accused former Director General of Police (DGP) (Prisons), HN Sathyanarayana Rao of accepting bribe to accord special treatment to V K Sasikala.

Rao, had then accused the officer of defaming him and slapped a Rs 50 crore defamation suit. Roopa, however maintained her stand on the issue.

Later, Roopa was transferred to the Traffic and Safety wing.
