Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President D. K. Shivakumar recalled Mahatma Gandhi’s greatness on Martyr’s Day, adding that Gandhiji took charge of the Belagavi session as Congress President and was a role model for world leaders.
“The Congress is a party whose DNA is woven with struggle, and this struggle brought the nation freedom,” he remarked.
He claimed the Congress will win its struggles with love, quoting Gandhi’s words, “Dear God, if I hurt others, grant me the strength to apologise, if someone hurts me, grant me the strength to forgive.” Gandhiji was martyred because he wanted to stop communal violence, said opposition leader Siddaramaiah.
