Bengaluru: It looks like the ‘resignation wave’ has taken over the Janata Dal (Secular) party as its state president reportedly tendered his resignation on Saturday, following JD(S) general secretary Sharangouda Kandkur’s resignation on Thursday.
Reports suggest that JD(S) state president H K Kumaraswamy took this decision as he held himself responsible for the pathetic performance of the party in the recently concluded Assembly by-polls.
Party sources have said that today, Kumaraswamy met JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda and informed him about his decision. HDD accepted his resignation and stated that the whole party needs to understand the reason behind the poor performance in the by-polls and try to strengthen the party for the future.
It can be recalled that earlier, BJP leader A H Vishwanath (former JD(S) state president) had resigned from the post, claiming that he wasn’t happy with the conduct of HDD and his family. Hunsur legislator from JD(S) H K Kumaraswamy then took over as party state president.
