Bengaluru: The Divisional Bench of the State High Court upheld the order of a Single Judge Bench cancelling the appointment of the Bangalore University (BU) Vice Chancellor (VC) K. R. Venugopal.
State Higher Education Department, K. R. Venugopal and others appealed against the Single Judge Bench order in this regard.
Venugopal was appointed as the VC of BU on June 12, 2018. Academician Sangamesh Patil had moved to the High Court against his appointment. On September 24, 2019, the Single Bench of the High Court cancelled his appointment.
Now the Divisional Bench also has upheld the Single Bench Order.
Venugopal is retiring in June and just three months are left in his tenure.
The State Government is likely to invite fresh applications for the VC’s post soon.
