Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy tweeted, “Today, the Central government is celebrating ‘Hindi Diwas’ throughout the country. @naerendramodi, when will you celebrate Kannada language day, which is also one of the official languages mentioned in the Indian Constitution along with Hindi? Remember, Kannadigas are also inclusive of this system #StopHindiImposition #HindiDiwas.”

Opposition leader and former chief minister Siddaramaiah also chimed in tweeting, “Let the false propaganda of Hindi language being the national language, stop. Let it be known, that Hindi is also one among the other 99 official languages like Kannada. Language cannot be nurtured using false information.”
