Bengaluru: The High Court extended an earlier order by two weeks, staying the summons issued by a lower court against Karthik Gowda in connection with a case accusing him of various charges including rape, kidnap and cheating.
The relief came to Union Law Minister D V Sadananda Gowda’s son on Wednesday two days prior to his wedding.
The summons was issued against Karthik on September 18 by the VIII ACMM court which had also asked him to appear before it in the case filed against him by a small time actress Mythriya Gowda.
Consequently R.T. Nagar Police after investigation, filed the charge sheet before the lower court. The police in its chargesheet had dropped the charges of rape and kidnap for lack of evidence against Karthik. However it had filed the chargesheet under IPC sec 419 which refers to punishment for cheating.
Karthik Gowda had approached the high court seeking to quash the lower court proceedings following summons.
According to sources, Karthik Gowda’s wedding is scheduled to be held on October 30. He got engaged in 2014 and the actress on August 27, 2014, had lodged a complaint in RT Nagar police station against Karthik alleging that she was raped and cheated by him.
